How to test an Oven Thermostat

The thermostat is the device which is responsible for keeping the heat inside any appliance at the temperature you set. 
A gas oven uses settings called “Regulo”. There are 9 regulo settings on a gas oven. If you look at a recipe book written for gas appliances it will say something like “ Bake for 30 minutes at regulo 6” 

          



This video will show you how to test that this is working correctly. 
This is one of your basic tasks on your assessment and you will be asked to explain how a thermostat works.

As a result, and unless you’re attending your 5 year refresher at the same school that you learned at, this is the first chance you will have had to see the layout of your assessment bay.
